Save Energy and Save Money by Alan King

With the cost of living expenses on the rise, there are always people on a search to find ways to save money, save energy and cut costs. Aside from completely eliminating the energy expense (which is highly unlikely to happen), reducing the expense of energy consumption simply requires finding creative ways to save. While the traditional methods of saving energy such as turning off lights, setting your thermostat on a particular setting and only using the energy utility when you need it are practical ways, one methods that is fast becoming popular is through the act of energy deregulation. Although the concept of energy deregulation may be fairly new, the idea of saving money isn't. As consumers find ways to save money, they are also seeking ways to save energy through utilities. That way is becoming available to consumers through companies like Ambit Energy.

Ambit Energy allows consumers the opportunity and flexibility to choose which electrical and gas company utility providers they desire to handle their energy needs. Through energy deregulation, the consumer can choose which companies they want to do business with. Placing the control back into the hands of the consumer proves not only to be empowering for the consumer, but also helps the consumer save energy as they save money.

Consumers have more buying power than they give themselves credit for. They are able to control a greater portion of utility expenses than they may be aware of. Through companies like Ambit Energy, these control points are highlighted as Ambit places the tools and resources in the consumer's hand to employ ways to save energy.

One way the consumer saves money is by using only what energy resources he needs and only paying for resources he uses. There are no additional fees for administrative or technical usage by the utility company and no unnecessary billing for services not used or not needed. Because energy deregulation is quickly becoming a more preferred way for consumers, it is likely that this will also cause exceptional cost savings in the future for the consumer and for the usage of energy as a whole.

Because companies like Ambit are on the forefront of making this service available to the consumer, there will most likely be an increased interest in saving energy and saving money as people seek more opportunities for both. For the consumer, and for Ambit Energy, it is a win-win situation.

How to save money and combat climate change in the same time ? By saving energy !

Global climate change threatens Earth’s balance and the way millions of people are living. Human energy consumption is responsible for a large part of greenhouse gaz emissions. Anyone can reduce its power consumption and contribute to energy savings, efficiency and conservation.

Energy efficiency means getting the same job done, having the same comfort while using less energy. Energy efficiency is usually done by doing simple tips such as turning down the thermostat, turning off the light when not used or turning up the temperature of your refrigerator. At job, you could activate “sleep” features on computers, copiers, and other machines that power down when the equipment is on but not in use for a while, and turn off equipment during long periods of non-use to cut energy costs and improve longevity. Save Money by Using Water Wisely

Common Sense. A lot of the "rules" governing the conservation of water, thus saving yourself money, is basic common sense.

Watch your water consumption:

1. When brushing your teeth, do not leave the water running! You would be amazed at how much water can run through your faucet in two minutes! It adds up.

2. If your toilet is running, check the plunger arm. Make a slight adjustment to stop the flow of water. Again, if left unchecked, it will run gallons of water in hours.

3. It is best to water your lawn in the early morning (before the hot sun comes out) or in the evening. This is a no-brainer. If the sun is hot and baking your lawn, it is evaporating all of the water you are pouring onto it.

4. Water your lawn for only 20 minutes each day. This will provide your lawn with enough moisture to feed it.

5. Don't fertilize your lawn too much because that will lead to excessive growth. More growth means the need for more water.

6. Don't cut your grass too short. Long blades of grass will shade the roots; causing less evaporation.

7. Check your sprinkler system for leaks and proper operation.

8. If the kids are bored and they want to run through the sprinkler, have them do so during the early evening hours when you are already watering the grass.

9. Limit your showers. Two minutes here and two minutes there really add up. (Think about the brushing of the teeth.) The less water you use, the more you save!

10. Don't water on windy days. Water that is being blown away is not getting onto your lawn. Up to 300 gallons in one sprinkling can be blown away. That's a lot of money being wasted over time!!

Remember, a little common sense will save you a lot of money!
